David Middlebrook has an art career spanning over twenty five years and includes thirty solo exhibitions along the east coast of Australia (Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle).
His work has, and is being acquired, by numerous regional, public and private collections nationally and internationally. He has received numerous awards including the Bendigo Bank Tattersall's National Landscape Art Award and has recently received a PhD (University of Newcastle) for his studies and work in Australian landscape painting.
Annual travels in Central Australia underpin David's artistic interpretation of distant horizons as well as tonal, colour and compositional exploration of the desert landscape. Personal and political themes are also explored and form a passionate sub-text to his work. His painting practice pays homage to, and reflects the influences of both Chinese and European landscape painting history.
